Regular Programming - Curriculum

Alberta Education has created the My Child's Learning Parent Resource which will provide you with a better understanding of Alberta’s curriculum and related information for your child. This tool can help you discover what your child is learning, how they’re assessed and what resources are available to help them be successful from Grade 7 to Grade 9.

Program Information

École St. Cecilia Junior High School offers outstanding programming for Junior High. This program, using the Alberta Program of Studies, will prepare students to acquire the knowledge, concepts, and skills needed to engage in a high level of learning. We strive to have the curriculum within all of its aspects - content, the teahing process, and the school environment - reflect the values of faith, hope, charity, forgiveness, and justice found in the gospels and the message of Jesus Christ.

The programming at École St. Cecilia Junior High prepares students for intellectual engagement by supporting the development of skills and acquisition of knowledge. The junior high years can provide a powerful opportunity for students to acquire the skills, habits of mind and concepts they need to engage in higher levels of learning. The program prepares students for an academic high school program and a future in university or college. Students who will be successful in this program can perform at academic levels and enjoy being challenged to expand their knowledge and skills.

Our teachers make numerous decisions when planning classroom instruction for students with a range individual strengths and needs. To do so, teachers use the Alberta Program of Studies that provides them with learning outcomes each student must achieve. Teachers choose resources and materials that will help students achieve these outcomes. Teaching methods and schedules may vary from other schools and from class to class. This allows us to meet the diverse learning needs of our students.

École St. Cecilia Junior High offers all mandatory core courses as well as an extensive selection of complementary courses. Of course, as a Catholic school, we continually integrate gospel values and nurture the presence of God within the curriculum so our students continue to develop academically and grow in their faith journey.
