The City of Edmonton has provided an update on its 132 Avenue Renewal Project and how it will impact traffic and access to our school.

The City of Edmonton has confirmed that 132 Avenue will re-open on Tuesday, September 1, between 90 Street and 86 Street. While this is good news, families should expect significant traffic congestion and delays when accessing our school, and temporary ETS bus stops due to the continued closure of 132 Avenue between 82 Street and 86 Street.

Traffic Impacts

As part of the renewal project, 132 Avenue will have two lanes, one in each direction. To help prepare you for morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up, please refer to the Information Bulletin and Map which shows access points, no parking zones, and other important information.

• There are three access points to our school: 86 Street, 88 Street, and 90 Street.
• For the first few days, city flaggers will be stationed at the following locations to help direct traffic:

o   86 Street and 130 Avenue
o   86 Street and 132 Avenue
o   90 Street and 132 Avenue

• There will be a parent drop-off zone along 132 Avenue in front of St. Cecilia Catholic Junior High School for the duration of the detours. This is shown in black on the map. Families can also pick students up at the back of the school (excluding the parking lot).
• Parking is not allowed in the staff parking lot and there are no pick-ups or drop-offs allowed in the back parking lot.
• An accessible pick-up and drop-off zone will be available in front of St. Cecilia Catholic Junior High School. This is shown in blue on the map.
• There will be no parking on 132 Avenue in front of St. Cecilia Catholic Junior High School while the detour is in place.
• Parking is not allowed in the O'Leary Fitness and Leisure Centre parking lot.

ETS Impacts

Students travelling by Edmonton Transit (ETS) will notice some changes to the school special routes. The school special bus stop will be located at 90 Street and 132 Avenue. This will be in place until the end of October, weather dependent, when 132 Avenue is expected to open completely from 90 Street to 82 Street.

132 Avenue Renewal Project

The 132 Avenue Renewal Project is a City of Edmonton infrastructure project. Edmonton Catholic Schools is sharing this information to help families prepare, but the City is responsible for construction decisions, timelines, and project updates.
